They won´t care about your “race”. What is AA? African American? Almost everybody is mixed someway in our country. They will strange you because you´re american, but not because you´re african. American culture sounds a little bit familiar, but in some cases we don´t understand your signals… Just be yourself. People will understand. Don´t try to look brazilian. And never say bad things about our country, otherwise people you´ll let people sad (brazilians are very weak at thins point

Brazilian is a nationality not a race. You didn’t say what race he is. Most likely mixed and in that case more open minded family.
Make sure you don’t say anything bad about the country and specially don’t speak Spanish to Brazilians.
